My Projects for 2024

As the New Year approaches, we all try to make resolutions and set goals for another year. The problem is that sometimes we achieve them, and most of the time we don’t. However, the important thing is to try.

It is a blessing to see another year because so many did not make it. I have lost family members and friends in 2023. It seems that there have been so many deaths. As we celebrate, let’s remember those who are not present to see another year. I have lost two sisters in less than two years. I lost my brother in 2013 and my parents in the 1980s. I miss them. What keeps me going is that their spirit and memories are still here. My husband, Romeo Doyle Muhammad, passed in March, 2009. I keep his memory alive with the annual Romeo Doyle Muhammad Scholarship.

In my new book I have a page in memory of my parents, Frank and Gertrude Townsend, my siblings and my Late husband. The page also includes their photos. It is a tribute to them and the impact they left on me. It is my way of saying I will not forget your presence on earth. It is in this spirit that I wish to list my projects for 2024. My parents taught me to work hard and get a good education. I appreciate their lessons.

As I list my projects for 2024, I am reminded of something my mother always said: Before you plan, remember you will do it if “God is Willing.” In other words, if God allows it. As I share my goals for 2024, I am keeping these words in mind.

I hope to write another book in 2024. If it happens it will be book number 14. I would also like to create audio books for our seniors and those who might not read a lot and have vision problems. Audio books will allow them to hear the book being narrated. There are a lot of people in nursing homes, and some in the hospital who might like to hear these books as they recover. When I was in the hospital a few years ago, I asked my son to bring me a radio. It was a comfort to me. I realize that some people will not be able to do this because it depends on their care. However, for those who are able, this might be a comfort to them also.

Creating these audio books will be one of my goals. Writing another book is at the top of my list of things to do in 2024. We will see how this goes.

In closing, I would like to wish all of my readers a Blessed, Peaceful Holiday Season. And to those who celebrate Kwanzaa: Happy Kwanzaa!
