Author’s Notebook

….…..Reminder: The book signing for my 13th book will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the Merriweather Library, inside of the Dr. Eva M. Doyle auditorium. I will be signing my book entitled: My Journey of 45 Years Teaching African and African American History in the Home, School, and Community.”

This book traces my life as an Educator, Historian, and Community Activist. The readers will find this book to be biographical, historical, and highly informative. The people, places, and events cited in the book have contributed to a life of writing and research. I appreciate the description of the book by my cousin, Regina Jackson, who lives in Silver Springs, Maryland when she called it a “Blueprint for teaching African and African American History. Special thanks to her and my Aunt Fannie Felts for ordering the book.

If you are not able to attend the book signing, you can purchase copies of the book at the Zawadi Bookstore owned by Sharon and Kenneth Holley, located at 1382 Jefferson Avenue. You can also get copies of the book at Xlibris.com or Amazon.com. Additional book signings are planned in the future after the holidays. For more information you can call (716) 847-6010, (716) 507- 5280 or send an email message to me at ewriter52@roadrunner. com. You can also visit my website at www.evamdoyle.com.

.…...Kwanzaa is also most here. It will be celebrated from December 26th to January 1st. This holiday celebrates the history and culture of African Americans. The theme for Kwanzaa this year is “Defy the Lie, Embrace the Truth.”

This Columnist will be the speaker on the last day of Kwanzaa, which will be celebrated on the day of Imani on January 1, 2024. Imani means Faith. I will be introducing books that “Defy, the Lie, and Embrace the Truth.” You don’t want to miss my lecture.

The theme of Kwanzaa this year is very important especially in light of the fact that so many people are trying to ban African American History. It is time for us as Black people to stand up and say, not on our watch you won’t disregard our History. We will continue to teach it, research it, and share it now and into the future!
