Cheerios and Cancer
Last week it was reported by a scientific research institute that the ever-popular breakfast cereal Cheerios and related brands contain a potential cancer causing “forever” chemical called chlormequat, which has been linked to cancer and reproduction problems in humans. It was also reported that 80% of all Americans have the ubiquitous chlormequat in our urine.
Who amongst us hasn’t eaten Cheerios for breakfast at some point in our lives? This is yet another example that we live in a toxic world and there’s no getting away from it.
It has been reported one in three Americans will contract some form of cancer in our lifetime. Cancer was relatively rare prior to the 20th century, albeit it has been documented in medical archives since the ancient Egyptians. But cancer seems to be skyrocketing since the pandemic, and the vaccine and doctors are unsure why (LOL).
Who amongst us does not know someone who has died of cancer recently? Personally, I had at least five female friends and relatives who have died from breast cancer in the past five years and several of my male friends have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, three of whom have died in the last year.
Experts say that most men, if they live long enough, will contract prostate cancer of varying degrees in their lifetime. It is a fact that Black men die from prostate cancer at a higher rate than white men. I believe the same is true for breast cancer in women.
There are conspiracy theorists like me who believe there are forces in this world that do not want a cure for cancer because there’s too much money in the treatment. Imagine if there was an actual cure for cancer. What would happen to Roswell Park Hospital? The standard cancer treatments have been fundamentally the same for the past 50 years. Cut it out (surgery). Burn it out (radiation); or poison it out (chemotherapy) treatment.
The fact of the matter is the death rate for all cancers has only improved 5% since the 1950s despite billions being spend on fruitless research. It was reported that every cancer patient’s medical bill costs an average of $300,000, which includes surgery, hospital visits, chemo, radiation, therapy on all the other things associated with cancer treatment.
But the biggest winner of the cancer industry is Big Pharma, which has patented chemotherapy drugs that make them billons in profits on cancer treatments. Also did you know that private practice oncologists earn up to 2/3 of their income from the profits on chemotherapy drugs they prescribe? It’s the only branch of medicine where the doctor gets a kickback on the treatment.
So, the next time you sit down to breakfast for a healthy bowl of toasted Cheerios, it’s possible it will lower your cholesterol and give you cancer.
