Eclipse
This might be my last column I write, and you read. In my lifetime, there has been several predictions of the end days. Remember Y2K, when the millennium changed, and everybody was unsure of what would happen at the stroke of midnight on Jan 1 2000? I even remember stocking up on can goods and water, just in case.
Well, next week – a once in a lifetime celestial event will occur that some speculate could be the beginning of the end. If you haven’t heard yet, a rare total solar Eclipse of the Sun will occur on April 8th, 2024. Buffalo happens to be in the direct path of the eclipse and a perfect location to get the full view of the complete eclipse, which experts say will plunge us into total darkness for one hour and 24 minutes.
Apparently, people from across the world will be in the area to witness the event. Weirdly, somebody is uncertain what the cosmic event will bring. The government is advising people to prepare for something they cannot predict. They’re asking people to stay at home, stock up on food, water, gas and have alternative communications, as well as a family plan in case of emergency. What are they expecting?
There is other internet scuttlebutt about the eclipse, and it’s potentiality less publicized. In fact, during the same time period of the eclipse, a comet called 12-P, also known as the Horned or Devil Comet, will be visible to the naked eye in the USA. It has been ancient lore that comets are the harbingers of bad things are about to occur. Others have pointed out that the eclipse will pass over several towns named Salem: Salem, IN, Salem, TX, Salem, PA, Salem, NY, Salem, VA. Salem, SC, and Salem MA. Salem is the root word of Shalom or Peace in Hebrew.
Should we be worried? I think yes. America needs a lesson and when the sun goes away on April 8th, let’s pray it comes back.
