Celebrating My Birthday on March 14th With New Projects and Goals
March 14th marks a milestone day for me as I celebrate an important birthday. I am truly blessed to still be here, continuing my work of educating the community on the contributions of African Americans to Western New York and the nation. I remain committed to creating new programs and developing innovative ways to keep our history alive. This mission is more important than ever as we face the banning of books, the removal of historical curriculums from schools, and the suppression of programs designed to enlighten and empower us all.
In April, I will proudly announce the 16th Annual Romeo Doyle Muhammad Scholarship, which honors my late husband, Romeo Doyle Muhammad, a veteran of the Korean War.
In keeping with this mission, I am excited to introduce a new program:
“African and African American History in Real Time.”
This initiative will feature a series of lectures, films, readings from my 13 books—including book signings—radio announcements, and the release of a new book next year. Events will be announced periodically over the next few months, with the official Kick-Off program set to be revealed before spring!
Additionally, I am bringing back the popular Legends and Legacies series, which I launched in past years. This program will include tributes to legendary entertainers such as The Miracles, The Temptations, the late Jerry Butler, Roberta Flack, The Impressions, Percy Sledge, Little Richard, Gene Chandler, Otis Redding, and many more. I will showcase films on these icons from my personal collection of over 250 films. I will also share footage of my work teaching students about African American history.
Not all of these events will take place at the Merriweather Library—there will be some surprises along the way!
I invite my readers to join me as I celebrate this milestone birthday year. To God Be the Glory for this blessed opportunity. Stay tuned to the Criterion for more information and upcoming dates. Visit my Facebook page and my website at www.evamdoyle.com. I hope you will join me on this journey!
