The Mighty O’Ba Sports Report: The Changing Landscape of the NFL

The league year officially starts on March 18, 2024, but as you see, teams are making moves to improve themselves in every way. Our hometown franchise has a salary cap problem which has forced them to release some players, but to also retain talented players.
The signing of Cam Lewis, Daquan Jones, AJ Epenesa, and Quinton Morris are huge for this team. The most important was to lock up your franchise left tackle Dion Dawkins until 2027 with a $60.5 million three-year extension that is vital to the health of your offense.
Many of the faithful are so worried about the changes that have occurred so far this year with the release of Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer, and Tre Davious White. These are now regular occurrences in this NFL and fans need to get used to the idea of personnel overhaul after every season.
This year the players were lost that helped to change this franchise into contenders over the last seven years, it feels like we are losing players. Well, the average career in the NFL lasts about 3.5 years and most of the players you released were here at least five years, so fans who do not understand the intricate details of the league should not be too hasty in judging McDermott/Beane.
There is also the factor of not being able to afford the second contract of a player based on salary cap and how much money that can be allocated to each position. This is why Gabe Davis would get more money from another team as compared to what Buffalo could offer him. This was the same with edge rusher Leonard Floyd, who signed with San Francisco.
The NFL is constantly changing, getting close to players in my business just does not happen.
