Buffalo Bills Midpoint Report card
By Pat Freeman, The Mighty O’Ba
The Buffalo Bills come out of the bye week with a chance to clinch the AFC east on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Most pundits thought this was a transition year for McDermott/Beane but it is turning into one of the best seasons of their tenure. Coach Sean McDermott is now on pace to eclipse one hundred wins in 10 years which would put him into elite status around the NFL. Right now, he is currently the 57th all time winning coach with a record of 82- 43 in his eighth season. There are only two coaches in Bills history with more wins than our current head coach.
Marv Levy 143- 112, 112 – 70 as the Bills head coach
Lou Saban 95- 99, 68-45 as the Bills Head coach
Sean McDermott 82- 43 Bills head coach 6-7 playoff appearances
Looking at this team I believe this could be Coach McDermott’s best coaching job of his tenure. He has proven to all of us to trust the process. One of the marks of a great head coach is to adjust their schemes to fit the players that they have, and Coach McDermott could be one of the best in the league at making that adjustment. The reason in my opinion has to do with that year in and out since taking over this franchise, this organization remains competitive. Other franchises have bad seasons, but the Buffalo Bills have remained competitive. That alone should put Sean McDermott among the elite coaches and organizers in this league. Bills should dominate the 49ers this coming out of the bye week.
