Business of the Week: Business Design & Advancement

By Eric Perry

Latoi-Shanai Jeter

I had the pleasure of meeting Latoi-Shanai Jeter, the owner, founder, and president of Business Design & Advancement (BDA), located on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, New York. BDA is a business that caters to the needs of black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) entrepreneurs. Miss Jeter offers a wide range of services, including grant writing, business association, web development, and more. Her goal is to provide business owners with the necessary tools and support to excel in their endeavors.

Miss Jeter's journey began with her expertise in couponing and web development. As she realized the demand for her skills within her community, she decided to channel her passion into creating her own brand, BDA. Today, she provides over 250 administrative services that cover various aspects of business ownership.

During my conversation with Miss Jeter, we discussed the importance of financial literacy in the black community. She shared valuable tips on utilizing the law to improve credit, such as using a Lexus Nexus report to prove third-party reporting and remove negative credit comments. Grants were also highlighted as a valuable business resource. Miss Jeter explained that grants are available for almost any reason, and there are websites that can autofill grant applications with AI articulations after plugging in your business information. These resources along with personal savings, a proper marketing strategy, and an online presence are key elements for business success.

In addition to her wide range of services, Miss Jeter currently offers two courses. The first is "AI Mastery," which guides individuals on how to incorporate AI into their lives and businesses. The second course is "Digital Readiness," which focuses on creating a strong online presence.

Overall, Latoi-Shanai Jeter and her business, Business Design Advancement are dedicated to empowering black, indigenous and BIPOC entrepreneurs by providing them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and support to thrive in the business world.
