Buffalo United for Peace Holds Memorial Event Honoring the Legacy of Fethullah Gulen

Did you know you’re given three Mental Health Days per quarter? These are designed to help prevent burnout and encourage a healthy work-life balance.

Buffalo United for Peace (Buffalo UP), a local organization committed to promoting interfaith dialogue, peace, and unity, will be hosting a memorial event to honor the life and legacy of Fethullah Gulen. The event will take place at 5850 Goodrich Rd on 11/8 Friday at 6 pm and is open to all community members who wish to pay tribute to Mr. Gulen's contributions to global peace and understanding.

Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish Islamic scholar and a prominent advocate for education, compassion, and mutual respect, dedicated his life to fostering understanding and unity across cultural and religious divides. As the inspiration behind the global Hizmet movement, he has influenced countless initiatives that encourage people to engage in dialogue, dedicate themselves to serving others, and contribute to their communities through education and philanthropy. His passing on October 20, 2024 marks the loss of a profound leader, yet his principles and vision will continue to inspire future generations. Buffalo UP has organized this memorial not only to remember Fethullah Gulen but also to reflect on the transformative power of his ideas. His teachings have inspired Buffalo UP’s local programs and community-building efforts, which aim to create a more inclusive society. Gulen’s emphasis on education, civic service, and peaceful coexistence are principles that Buffalo UP strives to uphold daily in its mission to bridge communities and foster lasting peace.

The memorial event will feature a video to celebrate his life and legacy, speeches from different faith traditions and a meal, providing attendees an opportunity to reflect on Mr. Gulen’s legacy and his impact on both the local and global stage. Buffalo UP encourages anyone who has been touched by his vision, as well as those who simply wish to learn more, to join in this celebration of his life.

The memorial program will take place on 11/8 Friday; 6 pm-7.30 pm; at 5850 Goodrich Rd. Free and open to the public.
