Submitted by Commander Debbera Ransom

In the spirit of unity and gratitude, the Johnetta R. Cole AMVETS Post No. 24, alongside the African American Veterans Arts and Culture Corporation and Ransom House, Inc., joyfully invite our community to join hands in honoring our veterans on this year’s National Wreaths Across America Day, themed “Serve and Succeed.”

On Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, Pine Lawn Cemetery will be transformed into a sanctuary of remembrance and appreciation, located at 2957 Harlem Road (at Harlem & Genesee), Cheektowaga, NY 14225. This hallowed ground will be adorned with wreaths to commemorate the courage, sacrifices, and unwavering dedication of our beloved veterans.

This event is more than a solemn gathering; it’s a celebration of service and resilience. It’s a chance for us to stand together, shoulder to shoulder, honoring those who selflessly served our nation, ensuring their legacies continue to thrive in our hearts and minds.

The theme “Serve and Succeed” embodies the essence of our veterans’ noble ethos. Their service wasn’t merely a duty; it was a commitment to something greater than themselves, a testament to the values of sacrifice, courage, and unwavering dedication. Let’s honor their legacy by continuing to serve our communities, embodying the same spirit of selflessness and dedication they exemplified.

As we lay wreaths to adorn the final resting places of these heroes, let us also vow to carry forward their stories and the principles they fought for. Let’s ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten, their bravery always celebrated, and their commitment to our country forever cherished.

This National Wreaths Across America Day is a call to action, a poignant reminder that the best way to honor our veterans is by emulating their courage, kindness, and willingness to serve. Let’s join hands, bow our heads, and lay wreaths not just as symbols of remembrance but as pledges to carry forward their legacy in our everyday actions.

In the quiet rustle of the wreaths, in the heartfelt messages and the shared memories, let us find strength, unity, and inspiration to serve our communities, our country, and each other.

We extend an earnest invitation to every heart that beats with gratitude for our veterans. Let us gather, let us remember, and let us honor those who served, sacrificed, and succeeded in preserving our freedoms.

Together, we will stand, wreath in hand, as a testament to the enduring legacy of our heroes. Join us, and let’s make this National Wreaths Across America Day a profound expression of gratitude and a commitment to serve and succeed, echoing through generations to come.
