Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes Honored During Caucus Weekend Governor Kathy Hochul with the Governor’s Medal of Public Service, recognizing Assembly Majority Leader Peoples-Stokes for championing a grassroots community vision and making history throughout her service in local and state government.
Majority Leader Peoples-Stokes also presented Dr. Monica Miles, of Buffalo, with the Arthur O. Eve Education and Community Service Award. Dr. Miles is an Assistant Professor of Engineering at the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and Co-Founder of Mother Earth Literacies, LLC.
Majority Leader Peoples-Stokes also hosted a panel discussion revisiting the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act and how to keep equity at the forefront of any new legislation.
The Majority Leader also hosted a Buffalo Delegation luncheon, co-sponsored by 63 rd District Senator April Baskin. The “Buffalo to Brooklyn Reception” took place Saturday evening, bringing together legislators and guests from Western New York and Brooklyn for a night of dancing.
In bridging Black History Month and Women’s History Month by honoring two Black women who continue to put on for Buffalo, Western New York and all of New York State, we recognize the need to give our community members their flowers while they are still achieving. Black History and Women’s History is being made every day in Western New York.
