True Vine New Life Church dedicated a couple hours to Christian education that was taught by Pastor Thomas L. Artis. Pastor V. Brown brought the sermon from Matthew 4: 1-11 this morning that was inspiring to all.

A Christian Perspective: Are You Ready? (Luke 2:1- 7). It is the Advent season again, and as we prepare to celebrate the first coming of Jesus Christ, we should be looking forward to his second coming.

During the Advent season there is a lot of studying regarding the birth of Jesus Christ. The Jewish Community was attending Temple Services, offering sacrifices, and studying the Word of God. They followed the traditions of man to be prepared for the coming of the Messiah (Isaiah 7:14). They were prepared for the Messiah to be born of a virgin, but I guess they wanted to choose her. They obviously did not choose Joseph and Mary to be his Earthly parents.

However, God saw something the Jewish community did not. They were from the correct lineage, and Mary was a virgin (Luke 1:26-33). But, most of all, their hearts were tender towards God, and they were obedient to his call and life directions (Luke 1:38; Matthew 1:20- 25).

Despite negative public opinions regarding the pregnancy before marriage, and Joseph’s forgiveness, they followed the plan of God. They were ready for the coming of the Messiah. Despite their meager existence, they trusted God to meet their needs.

Are you ready to meet the Messiah (Matthew 24:42- 51)? Are you following the plan of God? Do you trust God despite what the world around you is doing and saying? Would an angel even be welcome in your presence (Hebrews 13:2)? Or would you question whether anything good ever came from the east side of Buffalo, or the west side of Buffalo, or even South Buffalo (John 1:46)?

Will you trust God if your life doesn’t go the way you planned, or envisioned (Psalm 143:8)? I’m sure this was not the plan Joseph and Mary had for their first born, or the plan they had for the first year of their marriage (Proverbs 3:5-8).

We can’t always see Life Through The Eyes Of God, but we must trust that all things work to the good of those that love the Lord and our called to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
