Mark Your Calendar for Two Important Dates

On Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., this Columnist will present an ultimate book signing event. It will be held at the Frank E. Merriweather Library in the Dr. Eva M. Doyle auditorium. At this event I will have my books on display and I will sign them. I will also do selected readings from a few of the books. This is the first time that all books listed below will be on display at the same time. They include the following:

  • My 45-Year Journey Teaching African and African American History in the Home, School, and Community.

  • Eye On History, The Golden Collection of Articles on African and African American History – Lost History– Forgotten History.

  • The African Roots of Ludwig Van Beethoven.

  • Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Read, Learn, and Remember.

  • Warren Gamaliel Harding, One of America’s Black Presidents.

  • Buffalo’s Black Community, Celebrating Kwanzaa in Buffalo.

  • Secrets of the Dollar Bill, Hidden in Plain Sight.

  • Jambo, Let’s Count and Jambo Let’s Count Again. The last two are coloring books for children.

Celebrating Kwanzaa in Buffalo and the Jambo books were illustrated by well-known storyteller and my his tory partner Karima Amin. I hope by doing this program it will inspire others to write a book. I will also have copies of my article entitled: “Tips for Writing a Book.”

The next important date is Saturday, July 7, 2024 from 1 to 3:00 p.m. This will be the 15th Annual Romeo Doyle Muhammad Scholarship awards program. It will be held at the Merriweather Library. I created this scholarship in honor of my late husband, Romeo Doyle Muhammad. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He always encouraged students to stay in school and get a good education. This award is always presented in July, which is the birth month of my husband. Each student will receive a check and a gift bag with school supplies. The names of this year’s winners will be announced in the month of June.

Both of these events are free and open to the public. I would like to thank the supporters of this scholarship. If you would like to support this scholarship you can call me at (716) 847-6010 or send an email message to me at ewriter52@roadrunner.com.
