Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Performance
By Pat Freeman, The Mighty O’Ba
The Super Bowl Halftime performance headlined by Usher and for the second time sponsored by Apple Music must be ranked as memorable. This performance joins the rankings based on my 24 Championship games in which I have been credentialed.
The reason you must state credentialed is that it gives me legal license to background information including interviews to author a factual story. So, the Usher headline performance which included performances by her, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri and Lil Jon and others gave Atlanta its due just after the Super Bowl in Atlanta headlined Maroon 5. The Usher memorable performance showed the world how great a music city Atlanta has become with some of the greatest talent and Entertainment emerging from the capital of entertainment South.
This show reminded the world that the NFL must be responsible in its choosing of halftime entertainment in relation to its city. It just so happens Las Vegas, the magical city of the desert, offered the NFL redemption for snubbing the Atlanta music culture during the halftime performance when the Super Bowl was there 2018. They offered some appeasement with adding Travis Scott and Big Boi, but the headline Maroon 5 just was not a memorable performance, Usher more than delivered redemption for the NFL who committed another cultural snub was redeemed in Las Vegas by a memorable Atlanta mostly based performance.
