The Mighty O’Ba Sports Report: NFL New League Season is Upon Us

The new league season is upon us again, and the hometown franchise is over the salary cap. So far most of the moves the organization has made make a lot of sense except for the trading of Ryan Bates to Chicago. Most of us who follow this franchise felt that Ryan Bates was the heir apparent to replace Mitch Morse at the center position on the offensive line.

One good thing about the McDermott/Beane era is they have successfully replaced multiple positions since their arrival. The one contract they wish for an out clause is Von Miller. Truly McDermott/Beane wish they had an out clause in the contract they gave this future hall of famer. The problem is that he has so many miles on his legs that after a major knee injury, he only had flashes of his once brilliant career. The problem is that the franchise grossly overpaid for his services disregarding his age and durability.

Look for the Bills to release Tre Davious White in June, saving an additional 10.2 million against the cap. The new league year gives the draft prognosticators about 30 days to adjust their mock drafts as each franchise prepares for the annual draft. Based on what I am seeing, the Bills need a starting caliber center, safety, and a #2 receiver in the first four rounds unless they make some more moves before next press time. The other area the franchise needs to address is finding a stout linebacker to play alongside Matt Milano. Do not get me wrong, the players that are coming back played extremely well, but you need a little more size in the middle.
