CELEBRATING NATIONAL MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH WITH BATTLE OF THE BANDS:
Elmwood Village Charter School (EVCS) is pleased to announce that our Days Park Campus will be commemorating National Music in Our Schools Month with the return of the 8th Grade Battle of the Bands on March 21, 2025. The event is a celebration that fosters positive competition while emphasizing the importance of music education.
8th Grade Battle of the Bands is a capstone of the students’ hard work as part of EVCS musical instruction, which starts with the fundamentals in elementary school all the way to specializing in specific instruments in middle school. The Days Park 8th grade classes will be split into different bands composed of guitarists, drummers, and more. New this year, student bands will also feature vocal performances. Between sets, the staff house bands will perform. “While March is Music in Our Schools Month, we are so fortunate to celebrate music and its importance every day at EVCS,” said Theresa Tinkham, instrumental music teacher.
“In 5th grade our students begin to focus on learning one instrument, and it is such a privilege to be able to watch them grow throughout their time here and become confident performing musicians. We strive to inspire students to excel at what they are passionate about.”
The Days Park 8th Grade Battle of the Bands will take place on the school’s campus at 40 Days Park in Buffalo, NY and will start at 12:30 p.m. Attendance is exclusive to guardians and families of EVCS 8th graders, EVCS staff, and EVCS students. However, members of the media are also welcome to attend. Media are encouraged to RSVP by emailing cketter-franklin@elmwoodv illageschool.org.
