Criterion Movie Review: “Rebel Ridge”

Directed By Jeremy Saulnier

By Pat Freeman, The Mighty O’Ba

The Netflix film Rebel Ridge is one of the best action thrillers I ‘ve seen this year. Many aspects of this action thriller are based on police corruption that communities deal with daily. The lead performance of Aaron Pierre, David Denman and the entire cast kept was suspenseful for the entire length of the action drama.

You knew from the beginning that police corruption and poor caliber city officials helped to lead this small town down a road of despair. The money trail was easily followed. Jeremy Saulnier did an excellent job of keeping your attention throughout the scenes leading to how a corrupt sentencing system led to a financial windfall for certain corrupt officials which usually keeps multiplying before the story 's end.

The acting of the lead Aaron Pierre who played Terry Richmond was excellent. How many times are young people initially being stopped and caught up in a corrupt system over something minor which leads to trumped up charges? This Netflix thriller has earned the right to be a must see on your streaming list.

Grade- Must see.
