Person of Interest Arraigned On Gun Charge As Zenner Street Double Homicide Investigation Continues

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that 31-year-old Dale O. Cummings of no permanent address was arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Samuel P. Davis, Jr. on one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony).

It is alleged that on Sun day, April 28, 2024, at approximately 6:17 p.m., Buffalo Police found the defendant in possession of an il legal, loaded gun in the area of East Delavan and Norfolk Avenues. The weapon was submitted into evidence for further analysis. Cummings was scheduled to return on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was held with out bail. If convicted of the charge, Cummings faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

The defendant is a person of interest in the investigation into a double homicide that occurred over the week end in the city’s Genesee Moselle neighborhood. On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Buffalo Police responded to a reported shooting on the 100 block of Zenner Street. Two victims, a 59-year-old male and a 39-year-old male, were fatally injured by gun fire. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
