E.C. Leg. Baskin, Erie County Level Up to Announce Taste of Diversity Partnership with SUNY Erie

Erie County Legislature Chairwoman April N.M. Baskin, SUNY Erie Officerin-Charge Dr. Adiam Tsegai, Penny Semaia, VP of Stadium Relations for the Buffalo Bills, and Erie County Level Up program participants, will host a press conference to announce a new initiative that brings five Blackowned area restaurants to the south campus cafeteria every Monday. The Taste of Diversity begins November 27 and runs through January 2024. Following the press conference, students and faculty will enjoy the Taste of Diversity kickoff celebration and speaker series beginning at noon.

This will be the first time in four years that the SUNY Erie South Campus cafeteria, which has been dormant for the past four years, will see traffic from patrons looking to purchase hot foods.

The Taste of Diversity is primarily for enrolled SUNY Erie students and faculty. However, nearby Buffalo Bills staff and the new stadium construction workers are also invited to campus to enjoy the latest flavors in the SUNY Erie South Campus cafeteria.

This event will be held at SUNY Erie South Campus cafeteria – 4041 Southwestern Blvd, Orchard Park, NY 14127 - Building 5, at 10 a.m. The new initiative will prepare each minorityowned restaurant to compete for concessionary opportunities at the new stadium. According to the Buffalo Bills community benefits agreement, the new stadium requires 30% of concessionaires to be a local minority or womenowned business enterprise.
