M&T Honors 50-Year Employee
Over the last 50 years, technology has transformed financial services and M&T Bank has expanded across the northeastern United States. Through all the change, Dorothy Amerson-Law has been a constant for M&T, becoming a trusted leader and important contributor to the company’s success and community impact for five decades.
M&T Bank honored Amerson-Law for her 50 years of dedicated service on Wednesday, August 14, at a special event that will bring together 150 of her colleagues, family, and community partners to celebrate her forthcoming retirement.
Currently serving as an accounting associate in M&T Bank’s Finance Division, Amerson-Law has built an impressive career, thriving in multiple roles across Retail Banking, Auto Lending, Financial Controls, and more. Notably, Amerson-Law co-founded M&T Bank’s African American Resource Group in Western New York and now serves as vice president of the companywide African American Resource Group. Earlier this year, Amerson-Law became the first recipient of a new award that M&T Bank established in her honor. The Dorothy Amerson-Law Legacy Award will annually recognize one M&T Bank employee who embodies and advances the company’s core values of candor, ownership, curiosity, integrity, and collaboration. Amerson Smith was honored for her commitment to inclusion and mentorship, advocacy for eliminating barriers, and persistence in overcoming challenges.
Dorothy Amerson-Law and her husband of over 40 years, James Law, have two sons, James and Jalen, who share their mother’s strong work ethic, dedication to community service, and spirit of altruism.
