UPCOMING BUFFALO SEWER AUTHORITY DRILLING IN SCHILLER PARK NEIGHBORHOOD

The Buffalo Sewer Authority (Buffalo Sewer) will start preliminary site work in and around Schiller Park in January as part of the $1 billion Queen City Clean Waters initiative.

The 15-year initiative will improve local waterways by mitigating combined sewer overflows that occur during extreme wet weather events. Buffalo Sewer representatives will be working in Schiller Park and nearby neighborhoods during the week of January 6, 2025 to mark boring locations. Drilling is planned to begin the week of January 20, 2025.

The site work will include surveying and painting markings for the drillers. The boreholes will be restored after the drilling is completed. If monitoring wells are necessary, they will be cut down to ground level and capped. Surrounding homes and businesses may experience some noise during the drilling and there may be some traffic impacts.

“Buffalo Sewer crews will be wearing bright reflective vests and protective gear for both the site work and the drilling operations,” said Rosaleen B. Nogle, PE, BCEE, BC.WRE, Principal Sanitary Engineer, Buffalo Sewer Authority. “This work is necessary and critical for planning and designing future projects to reduce the impacts of sewer overflows in waterways in and around Buffalo.”
