Jury Finds Buffalo Man Guilty
Thirty-two year-old Terrance Boyd of Buffalo was found guilty by a jury of one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony). Jurors rendered their decision on Monday afternoon after approximately two hours of deliberation following a four-day trial, convicting the defendant of the only charge in the indictment against him.
On Monday, August 16, 2021, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Buffalo Police officers on routine patrol initiated a traffic stop on the 1300 block of East Ferry Street in the City of Buffalo for a vehicle that did not have a front license plate. As the officers approached the vehicle, they witnessed the defendant, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, hand a bag to a person who was sitting in the backseat. Officers recovered the bag from underneath the front passenger seat, which contained a loaded, illegal handgun. The defendant was linked to the gun through DNA analysis.
Boyd faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. DA Flynn commends Officers Lyana Luciano and Mohammad Ibrahim of the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Samantha N. King of the Felony Trials Bureau and Chief John P. Gerken, Jr. of the Narcotics/Intelligence Unit.
