Acting Mayor Scanlon is More of the Same Failed Leadership in Buffalo

January 23, 2025, Senator Sean Ryan released the following statement on Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon’s decision to formally enter the Buffalo Mayoral Race:

“Unfortunately, as acting Mayor, Chris Scanlon has only given Buffalo more of the same: calls for investigations, mismanagement of taxpayer dollars, ineffective city services, and he's taken support from MAGA Republican Carl Paladino and companies doing business with city hall.

Buffalo is at a crossroads. We can’t get ahead with the same tired story. As Mayor, I will implement a bold vision and new leadership that will move our city forward. As a lifelong advocate for Western New York, I’ve worked tirelessly to improve the lives of working families, strengthen our local economy, and create opportunities for all. Buffalo deserves better – a leader who’s not afraid to make the big changes, and fix the basics.”
