Chairwoman Baskin Leads as Legislature Majority Allocates $2 Million for Community Organizations Across E.C.
The Erie County Legislature Majority Caucus recently passed a resolution that allocated $2 million to community organizations across Erie County. This money aims to support local organizations that provide necessary services for our community. The $2 million will be distributed across all parts of Erie County to organizations that focus on education, healthcare, afterschool programs, senior services, social services and more.
“Our community agencies are the entities that hold our society during difficult times and bear the responsibilities of serving our most vulnerable community members” said Erie County Legislature Chairwoman April N.M. Baskin. “Community agencies operate on the front lines, addressing issues that sometimes the government cannot address effectively. They provide essential services that our community needs. For many individuals and families, these agencies are the main source of support during crises, and it’s our duty as elected officials to ensure that they have the resources to serve our community efficiently.”
Recipients of the grants include: LEAD 716, for their early intervention lead poisoning prevention program, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Confident Girl Mentoring, and H.E.A.L International for their after school and summer programs, Lord of Life Adult & Child Services in Depew for the operation of their adult health center that serves those who have suffered from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and dementia patients, and several other community organizations. The Legislature is proud to support organizations like that that are doing the work in the community.
