The Riverline Study is at the Mid-way Point

Too many neighborhoods in Buffalo lack enough green space to take a walk, meet up with friends, or sit for a quiet moment in nature. The Riverline is an exciting project to transform an old rail corridor owned by the NFTA into a one-of-a-kind nature trail. The Riverline runs through the Perry, Old First Ward, and Valley neighborhoods and will be an exceptional public space where nature, recreation, community connections, and public art are accessible to all community members.

The project is in an important phase:  in February, we began conducting The Riverline Study, which analyzes the environmental, cultural, and community impacts related to building The Riverline. This study is required for projects using federal funding before any construction can begin.

The Study requires extensive public engagement, and includes a series of public meetings to give updates and get feedback from all members of the community. These meetings are an important part of the process. Public input is crucial to help us keep the community's vision front and center and make The Riverline the best it can be.

The Study is at the mid-way point and The Riverline Study Team will hold three public meetings in July. All three meetings cover the same information so you only need to attend one. The meetings will be “open house” style. This means there is no formal presentation and you can drop in anytime during the meeting hours. You can visit various information stations to see design ideas for key locations, learn about social and community impacts of the project, review the results of the environmental investigations, and give your input, ideas, and opinions.

Food and beverages will be provided so you can enjoy a meal and chat with others while you help shape the future of this great public space! ALL members of the community are encouraged to attend one of the meetings.
