Community Celebration: Black Owned UPS Store Shines Bright On Broadway in Buffalo's East Side

The East Side of Buffalo has a new and vibrant addition to its business landscape with the grand opening of the UPS Store at 345 Broadway Street. Owned and operated by the father son team of Dr. Uzo Ihenko and Kelechi Chillis-Ihenko, they are great examples of Black excellence in the community.

The grand opening ceremony will be attended by local officials, community leaders, and eager residents, marking the beginning of a new era for the neighborhood.

The decision to establish the UPS Store at this location was driven by a deep commitment to addressing the essential needs of Buffalo's East Side. Dr. Uzo Ihenko, a prominent figure in the community, and his son Kelechi Chillis-Ihenko recognized the lack of convenient shipping, printing, and packaging services in the area. In response, they embarked on a mission to provide these vital services while enhancing the overall quality of life for residents and local businesses.

Dr. Ihenko expressed his vision, saying, "The East Side of Buffalo has been underserved for far too long, and we are here to change that. Our goal is to offer a one-stop solution for office supplies, shipping, printing, and packing needs while creating a space where people feel welcomed and valued.”

The community has warmly embraced the UPS Store since its doors opened last December. Residents are expressing their gratitude for the convenience this new establishment brings to their doorstep.

Glen Belton, a long-time East Side resident, shared his enthusiasm, saying, "I used to travel quite a distance to access these services. Having the UPS Store right here is a gamechanger. Plus, it's wonderful to see local entrepreneurs making a positive impact in our community." What sets the UPS Store on Broadway Street apart is the personal touch provided by Dr. Ihenko and Kelechi. They both share a passion for meeting new people daily and addressing their unique needs.

Whether it's assisting a small business owner with packaging solutions or helping a student with printing services, the owners are dedicated to ensuring every customer leaves with a smile.

Kelechi Chillis-Ihenko, who manages the day-today operations of the store, stated, "We take immense pride in being part of the East Side community. Every day, we have the privilege of meeting incredible people and helping them find solutions to their challenges. It's an honor."

The UPS Store on Broadway Street in Buffalo is not just a business; it's a testament to the power of community-driven entrepreneurship. Dr. Uzo Ihenko and Kelechi Chillis Ihenko have not only filled a crucial void in their neighborhood but have also demonstrated the positive impact that local businesses can have on a community.
