Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony Gets Underway June 7th

Mayor Byron Brown and the City of Buffalo, along with members of the Juneteenth Festival of Buffalo, started celebrations in recognition of Juneteenth 2024, Friday, June 7th, with a ceremonial flag raising which took place in Niagara Square at noon, one week in advance of Buffalo’s Juneteenth Parade and Festival.

The 49th Annual Juneteenth Festival and Parade, will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 15th and 16th at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park.

Juneteenth is an annual observance on Wednesday, June 19th to mark the end of slavery in the United States. This day is an opportunity for people to celebrate freedom and equal rights in Buffalo and in cities throughout the United States.
