Council Woman Everhart Calls Out Reckless Attacks on Department of Education

Masten District Council Woman Zeneta B. Everhart

Masten District Council Woman Zeneta B. Everhart has issued a statement following the signing of an executive order to dismantle the United States Department of Education.

“As the Representative of Buffalo’s Masten District and the Chair of the Education Committee, I am outraged and disgusted by the 47th President’s executive order dismantling the U.S. Department of Education. This decision is a direct attack on our children, our future, and the very foundation of our nation’s progress.

“Our education system is what makes America great. Our children must continue to be educated at the highest of standards so that our great nation can continue to grow, evolve, and live up to the standards we have set for ourselves. How can we be the land of the free if we are uneducated, unprepared, and unequipped with the necessary tools? How can we as a nation show our innovation, creativity, and forward thinking if we are not exercising our minds in the classrooms?

“I am calling on our Congressional and Senate leaders to stand up to the 47th President and take a stand against this reckless action and fight for the future of our children. We cannot allow this administration to undermine the progress we’ve made in ensuring every child – regardless of zip code – has access to a quality education.

“Our children deserve better. Our nation deserves better.”
