Edna Frances White (née Corpening), a native of Morganton, North Carolina, born in 1930, leaves behind a legacy of grace, compassion, and resilience. A trailblazer in her own right, Edna was known for her ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Whether in her roles as a registered nurse, businesswoman, or friend, she treated everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect. A woman of unshakable faith and purpose, Edna was admired for her quiet strength, unconditional love, and empathetic nature.
She was a devoted wife to her late husband, James H. White, with whom she shared over 55 years of marriage, and a loving mother to five children.
Edna built an impactful career that spanned several of Buffalo’s most notable medical institutions, including:
E.J. Meyer Hospital Deaconess Hospital Roswell Park Cancer Institute She also served as the City of Buffalo Drug Abuse Nurse, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to addressing critical health issues in her community.
Her enduring legacy is marked by her tireless devotion to her family, profession, and community. Edna’s life exemplified the transformative power of kindness, resilience, and service.
Cherished Family and Loved Ones Edna is survived by her beloved family:
Children: Sandra White, Renee Brown, Denise White, Cynthia "Cynna" White, and James H. White Jr. (Darrell).
Grandchildren: Tiffany Hinton, Merneptah Sealy, Nyerie Sealy, Crystal Brown, Candace Byrd, and Tiae Miller.
Great-Grandchildren: Jaylen Hearon, Nate Gainey, Aubrie Poole, Ellis James Byrd, and Tory Edward Byrd. Siblings: Ronald Corpening, Vanda Reese, Mary Jo Thompson, and Wanda Scott, along with the extended Corpening family.
Service Details A celebration of Edna Frances White’s life will take place on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Mount Ararat Temple of Prayer, 971 Jefferson Avenue.
