As we step into 2025, East Side Stewards, a cooperative dedicated to transforming Buffalo’s East Side, is thrilled to share updates and plans to continue fostering a sustainable, thriving community. Focused on revitalizing green spaces, developing unbuilt lots, environmental education, and equitable resource distribution, ESS is committed to restoring environmental and social health in a historically disinvested area.

Our Market Services: Organizational Capacity Building:

Organizations and businesses seeking support can benefit from our 10 years of experience in communications, community organizing, and environmental advocacy. From grant deliverables to website design, our team helps you grow. ($75/hr consulting fee).

Environmental Justice & Sustainable Community Training:

Engage your team in workshops focused on climate justice, economic transitions, and sustainable planning. These sessions equip participants with tools for resilience and equity. ($20/hr per participant for facilitation and prep).

Buffalo Keepers Program:

High school and college students can lead community projects, fostering leadership and innovation in environmental stewardship. ($50/hr facilitation).

Junior Bison Program:

Designed for K-8 students, this program blends outdoor exploration with ecological research, encouraging young minds to connect with nature. ($50/hr facilitation).

25K in 2025 Capital Campaign This year, ESS aims to raise $25,000 to support key initiatives:

$10,000 for a hybrid or electric truck to transport tools and materials.

$7,500 to develop a 4,000-5,000 sq ft lot for our HQ, urban farm, and community market. $2,500 for seeds, soil, and tools for our programs.

$2,500 to electrify the CS53 Garden with solar lighting.

$2,500 to build a greenhouse, tool shed, and seating to enhance green spaces. Your contribution can help catalyze community-led revitalization and environmental justice.

WNY’s 5th Annual MLK Day of Service Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by volunteering or hosting a service project in your community. From planting to cleaning, every small action makes a big difference.

Sign Up to Volunteer CS53 Community Garden Site Plan We’re unveiling the first draft of our CS53 Garden plan! Highlights include a restored gazebo, a greenhouse, compost stations, rainwater systems, and a seed library. Enhancements like increased plant biodiversity, seating, and lighting will transform this space into a self-sustaining ecosystem.
