Paratrooper, Sargent Roland Hayes, gets his first chess lesson from Michael A. McDuffie, USCF Chess Coach. Coach McDuffie was hosting the 2024 African American Veterans Chess Tournament at the Frank E. Merriweather, Jr. Branch Library on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Results are as follows: Shuang Chen, 7th grader at Transit Middle School in East Amherst, NY was undefeated in the three match USCF dual rated tournament.

Second place tie was Trevor Cohn, Chen Chen, and Steve Baer. Army Veteran, James J Paul, and Marine Veteran, Glenn Conlin are active tournament chess players. The next tournament will be on Saturday, September 14 - 21, 2024, a six (6) game, USCF dual rated tournament. For more information, please reply to Knightsof64@yahoo.com.
