Buffalo’s Annual Fall Leaf Collection Is Now Underway

The City of Buffalo Department of Public Works issued a reminder to property owners that fall leaf collection is underway through mid-December, or as weather permits. There are two methods that residents may use to dispose of leaves: 1) Curbside Pickup; and 2) Residential drop-off at Geiter Done of WNY. Both methods are critically important to help prevent leaves, grass clippings and other yard waste from clogging City roadways and storm drains.

The curbside pickup option is the quickest method of collection since bags are collected weekly. Below are details about this method.

• Leaves, grass, brush and small branches must be placed in clear or paper bags.

• Place bags curbside and City crews will do the rest.

• There is no limit to the number of bags that can go out to the curb.

• Do not rake leaves into streets. A summons may be written.

For those who prefer the residential drop-off method, they can take their leaves to Geiter Done of WNY, located at 383 Babcock Street, on any day, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Everyone must sign in and show proof of City of Buffalo Residency. At Geiter Done, residents are welcome to pick up free compost! Please bring your own container or paper bag.
