2024 Scholarships & Youth Academy Ceremony Held at Villa Maria College

Black Achievers, Inc. hosted a special event at Villa Maria College during which the organization awarded scholarships to 11 local students, who will be heading to college in the fall. The organization also recognized students who successfully completed the 4th cohort of the Black Achievers Youth Academy.

According to Herbert L. Bellamy Jr.; the CEO of Black Achievers Inc. the organization was joined by co-sponsors: Uniland Development Company Co.,Murak & Associates, MidCity Office Furniture, Dreshler & Malecki, La Nova’s, BankonBuffalo, Alan R. Core Funeral Home, Mustard Seed World Group, Hot Rod Studios, and Bellamy Enterprises to make the event possible.

Black Achievers Inc. annually provides scholarships to graduating seniors from area high schools. The scholarship fund is one of the projects financed by Black Achievers, Inc. with proceeds from the annual Black Achievers Awards Banquet.

Talisa King the Chairperson of the Black Achievers Scholarship Committee, presented each scholarship awardee with a $1,000 check. The scholarship awardees are: Miya Workman (City Honors), Victoria Morrison (Emerson School of Hospitality). Sinclair Maclin (City Honors). Azariah Thornton (Leonardo Davinci). Keaira Burt (Fredrick Law Olmstead). Keyan Cobb (Bennett High School). Jamea Edwards (Hutch Tech). Maria Furara (Burgard High School). Hodan Ibrahim (Lafayette High School). Tydeja Kemp (City Honors) Jesshya Rhodes (Leonardo Da Vinci).

Anna Cooke-Smith is the Director of Black Achievers Youth Academy, which is a program designed to prepare youth to excel in life by providing program participants with unique educational experiences designed to motivate them to prepare for and succeed in their adult careers.

Black Achievers, Inc. will be hosting the 52nd Annual Black Achievers Awards Banquet. The primary purpose for the awards event is to honor outstanding individuals and show the community the variety and quality of achievements of African Americans in Western New York. Images are powerful in our society, and this event highlights inspiring stories of personal, professional and community achievements. Over the past 52 years, Black Achievers, Inc. has honored more than 2,500 outstanding individuals.

This year the Black Achievers Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, September 28th at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center 153 Franklin St Buffalo, NY 14202. A reception will be held at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m.
