The Buffalo History Museum Lecture: The Buffalo Creek Reservation and the Legacy of the Senecas
In 1810, the Ogden Land Company acquired the rights to four Seneca reservations in New York State, igniting a land struggle that would endure for decades. The Senecas living in Buffalo during the early 19th century faced unprecedented challenges that tested their resilience, continuing long after the Buffalo Creek Treaty of 1842. This story lays the foundation for the Senecas’ enduring legacy in shaping modern-day Western New York.
Seneca Educator and Advocate Melissa Parker Leonard will present an enlightening lecture on this important aspect of our area’s history on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., at The Buffalo History Museum. Admissions is $10, free for members.
