Masjid Nu’Man Islamic Center to Host ‘Putting the Neighbor Back in the Hood’

Parade and Celebration Event to Encourage Unity within Neighborhoods

Masjid Nu’Man, an Islamic Center located at 1373 Fillmore Avenue in the heart of East Buffalo, will host its 28th Annual Community Event called Putting the Neighbor Back in the Hood on Saturday, August 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, Fillmore Avenue and Best Street in Buffalo, NY.

Community members are invited to participate in the event, which includes a parade that starts at 11 a.m., with line up at 10 a.m., at Fillmore Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue. The parade will conclude at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, followed by an awards ceremony and celebration. The free event includes food, vendors, entertainment, and family-friendly games.

In the spirit of community engagement, the focus for this year’s event is education, business, health, government, and culture. The event is sponsored by the Community Health Center of Buffalo, Inc.; Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown, Councilwoman Zeneta Everhart; Legislator Howard Johnson; H.E.A.L International; Leaving a Legacy 5.14; Monarch of Infinite Possibilities, LLC; No Menthol Buffalo; and Stan Martin Consulting, LLC.

The initiative has grown to promote neighborly deeds and bring people together, celebrating the neighbors and community around Masjid Nu’Man. Celebrating Muslims and non-Muslims alike, Putting the Neighbor Back in the Hood has been recognized and awarded by Mayor Byron W. Brown and the City of Buffalo for improving community relationships.

Masjid Nu’man is an Islamic Center, as well as a community staple located in the heart of Buffalo’s East Side. The center provides religious services, daily prayers, Jumaah service, Sunday school, and many other activities.
