Society of St. Vincent de Paul Presents Health and Wellness Fair
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Buffalo and WNY, which meets the needs of the neediest among us, is sponsoring a Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 29, at the Delavan Grider Community Center (877 East Delavan Ave.) in Buffalo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Assessing Health Dis parities in East Buffalo” will feature social service organizations that will pro vide information and answer questions related to health and wellness topics. Roswell Park Cancer Com prehensive Center, Independent Health, and Catholic Charities are among the 14 participating organizations.
D’Youville University nursing students will as sist guests with survey questions about their knowledge and experience related to health and wellness resources avail able to them. That data will be analyzed with the results helping to determine the next steps to be taken to improve health and wellness among East Buffalo residents.
Society President Cheri Frank knows firsthand about many of the issues residents face. “As a cancer researcher at Roswell, I conducted home visits and learned to recognize the dis parities in health and wellness. So many times, these individuals are told what they need but are never asked about their situations. By having individual conversations and through our survey, we will assess the answers pro vided by the attendees and brainstorm how we can be more available to the com munity together.”
