Bowling Fundraiser On May 5 to Benefit the Ride for Roswell

A popular fundraiser returns for its fourth year on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Tonawanda Bowling Center, with all proceeds again benefiting the Ride for Roswell. Team Roswell Rollers, formerly known as Team RPCS (Roswell Park Cessation Services) hosts the 4th Annual Russell J. Salvatore Bowling Open with support from the namesake legendary restaurateur.

The past three events collectively raised $19,000 to support cancer research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, N.Y. Team Roswell Rollers invites interested community members to partake in any of the day’s scheduled events, donate gifts toward basket raffles or volunteer to help the event run smoothly. All details plus a downloadable poster are available at https://tinyurl.com/RoswellRollers2024.

All activities on Sunday, May 5 start at 11 a.m. inside the Tonawanda Bowling Center, located at 574 Young Street in Tona-wanda, N.Y. Door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, gift card drawings, silent auctions and dozens of raffle baskets with items generously donated from Western New York’s top establishments will be available for attendees.

The event also begins with a tribute bowl called the 57 Frame Game, in honor of the special bond between the late Team Roswell Rollers member Mary Hayward and retired Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl line backer Lorenzo Alexander. Those participating in this activity must raise a minimum of $57 and bowl 57 frames either individually or with colleagues.

The day continues at 1 p.m. with the Family and Friends Fun Bowl. This activity costs $20 per person or $110 for a group of six, including two hours of open bowling, shoe rental, pizza, snacks and soda. Walk-in attendees are welcome. As is event tradition, Russell J. Salvatore will roll a ceremonial “first ball” to kick off the afternoon.

One lucky person who raises additional funds for Team Roswell Rollers through either of the two bowling activities will receive a generous prize from Mr. Salvatore: dinner for two at Russell’s Steaks, Chops & More and an overnight stay at Salvatore’s Grand Hotel.

Finally, from 4 to 6 p.m., the 4th Annual Russell J. Salvatore Bowling Open culminates with a Singles No-Tap Bowling Tournament. The first-place finishers in both handicap and scratch divisions will receive generous luxury prizes donated by Mr. Salvatore. The entry fee is $50 per division. Team Roswell Rollers encourages pre-registration for the tournament by contacting Fran Bax at 716-476- 4244 or francis.bax@gmail.com.
