Black History Month Celebration
These photos were taken on March 1st at Open Buffalo, located at 1327 Jefferson. Open Buffalo Youth Community Outreach teamed up with Urban Christian Ministries to bus area youth to The Michigan Avenue Corridor as part of their Black History Month Celebration. The tour included stops at The Merriweather Library, The Michigan Street Church, The Nash House, and WUFO Radio. In addition, the tour recognized the 100th year of The Buffalo Criterion Newspaper, Western New York’s oldest Black Weekly Newspaper, which was founded in 1925. Frank Merriweather III, the Criterion’s Public Relations Director gave remarks. Devon Patterson is the Community Engagement Director and Grey Glover serves as the Assistant Co-Ordinator.
