Book Signing Date is Changed to December 16, 2023

To my readers, the date for my book signing has been changed to Saturday, December 16, 2023, still at the same time from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the Merriweather Library located at 1324 Jefferson Avenue. It will take place in the Dr. Eva M. Doyle auditorium. My new book is entitled: “My Journey of 45 Years Teaching African and African History in the Home, School, and Community. It is biographical, historical, and highly informative.

This book traces my life as an Educator, Historian, and Community Activist with the goal of sharing little known facts about the contributions of African Americans to our nation and the world. This is the 13th book in the Eye on History publication series.

The pictures, events, community projects and people featured in the book have contributed to my life as a writer and researcher. There is one section in the book that describes ten things about African American history that you need to know right now. It is a very interesting part of the book. The book also includes some information that very few people know about me. The book is in the tradition of the Eye On History column. It is direct and to the point!!

I will also have my first book with me at the book signing. The title of it is “Buffalo’s Black Community.” This book is now 41 years-old. It was published in 1982 while I was teaching at the Campus West School, located at Buffalo State college. It is still a popular book. I hope to update the book in the future. I always had this book when I was a vendor during the Juneteenth Festival for many years. It was written as a children’s book. However, many adults found it interesting because it includes information about the history of Buffalo that people don’t know. For example, the first Black man to come to Buffalo in the late 1700’s was Joseph Hodge. He was a guide for the early white settlers who came later. He lived with the Seneca Indians and married a Seneca woman. He spoke the language of the Senecas and served as an interpreter for the early settlers in Buffalo.

The majority of my research for this book was done at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Museum. It is now known as the Buffalo History Museum. One of the things that I always do as a historian is to document my work giving my readers references of everything that I write. This way people can do their own research to find out more about the facts in both my column and my books.

If you are not able to attend the book signing, you can order my new book at Amazon. com or at Xlibris.com. You can also give me a call at (716) 847-6010 for more information. To all of my readers, have a Blessed and Peaceful Holiday season!!
