The Nuclear Option in Gaza
Last Sunday on the national news show Meet the Press, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said some thing that was unthinkable to most rational civilized people. Graham, a notorious war hawk, was discussing the Israeli Palestinian invasion, and looked straight into the camera, and said he would support nuclear weapons being used on Gaza in defense of poor powerless Israel.
Graham made up an absolutely ridicules analogy be tween the current Israeli-Hamas conflict and World War II and the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war against Japan. The analogy was not even close.
For a U.S. Senator to straight out say that America would stand with Israel even if they dropped a nuclear bomb on innocent civilians should be a crime, and Graham should be expelled from the Senate for promoting genocide.
Interestingly, Graham’s comments are similar to statements made by Israeli politicians who also suggested nuclear weapons could be used on Gaza. And it’s in accordance with Prime Minister Netanyahu’s quotes about ancient biblical beef between Israel and a tribe called the Amalekites: “I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites, and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and don keys.”
In practical terms, nuking the Gaza Strip would be an economical and efficient way to incinerate a million of “Amulets” in a single nuclear flash and accomplishing what might take years to do with conventional weaponry.
The reality is Israel knows they would get away with it because no nuclear nation would want to retaliate for something that’s not their business and set off a world wide nuclear exchange that will destroy the world over some insignificant powerless brown people.
It has been estimated that one tactical nuclear bomb over Gaza would incinerate to ashes one million people within seconds and the remaining millions will die of radiation poisoning within weeks.
In time the event would be erased from history books like it never happened and the Palestinian people would go by the way of the Cartesians, never to be heard from again.
