Buffalo is ‘Batman’ to Kamala Harris’ Supporters in Erie, PA.
By Betty Jean Grant
Batman has always been one of my favorite superheroes! From the cute, caped, draped outfit to the bad, bad car (you can keep the Bat Cave) I thought Batman was the coolest superhero around. And then they hired Eartha Kitt and later, Judy Newmar to play Catwoman. Man, those two women, one Black and the other one white, were the two sexiest women on TV in the 1960s!
I don’t remember what year Gotham City’s officials started using the lighted beacon to summon Batman to the city’s newest or latest crisis. A giantic symbol of a bat would light up the sky and Batman would drive his manly yet sexy, black car to the rescue! Whether it was a blonde-haired damsel in distress or some guy with two faces robbing an armored truck, Batman always took care of business.
Well, about a couple of weeks ago, the volunteers at the Kamala Harris Campaign Headquarters on Delaware Ave. looked to the skies – just kidding; we got a phone call, lol. We were told that their Erie Campaign Office needed help because the State of Pennsylvania would probably determine the eventual winner of the presidential race. They said that the little city of Erie, PA was a big factor in who would win because for the last 40 years, whoever won in Erie, PA, would go on to win the state of Pennsylvania and then the office of the President of The United States.
The Kamala Harris supporters told the Erie, PA crew that we would not wait for that Bat-like signal to help, and that they sharing the same County name as we, was enough to get us moving down the 90 East to Erie to campaign. We were ready, and willing to go to Erie because truth be told, New York State is Blue State and is already on her side of the slate.
Last Saturday, 16 Harris’ volunteers braved the highways and traveled to Erie to help the workers there. We planned on making that trip down the highway every Saturday up to the week of the election.
To join us on one of these trips, please call the campaign headquarters @ 716-331-3022 or 1-800-597-2052
