I will be participating in an exhibition Ancestral: As Afro-Americas of Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Americans artists at the Museum of Art Brasileira in São Paulo, Basil.

Included in the exhibition are artists such as my great friend and mentor Abdias Do Nascimento, Charles White, Kerry James Marshall, Faith Ringgold, Carrie Mae Weems, my good friend Sebastiao Januario and many other notable Brazilian and U. S. Artists. This should be an amazing exhibition.

Because this article is in Portuguese I was asked to translate so I’ll give a short translation. The show unites more than 100 works of artists of Afro-descent from Brasil and the U. S. As curated by Ana Beatriz Almeida of Brasil and Lauren Haynes of North America with artistic director Marcello Dantos.

In short, the exhibition offers artistic reflections about the body, dreams and the reclaiming of spiritual and possessory stolen rights as a result or shared colonialism and slavery through the artistic visions of 73 major artists from the U. S. and Brasil.
